Requesting a Desk Copy of Your Course Textbook

As a faculty member preparing to teach your course, it's important that you have access to the course textbook. Publishers typically provide desk copies, also called examination copies, free of charge to instructors upon request. Please follow the steps below to request a desk copy directly from the publisher:

  1. Look up the textbook information for your course to determine the name of the publishing company.
  2. Go to the official website of the publisher to see how to request a desk copy. Usually, there is an email address or online form to complete the request.
  3. Place an order for your desk copy by following the instructions on the publisher’s site. You will typically need to provide the following information:
    1. Instructor name and mailing address (please use your home address)
    2. Course title and number
    3. Semester and year the course will be taught
    4. Expected enrollment
    5. ISBN or title/edition of the textbook you are requesting
