More Information

This article covers how to connect to LetNet wireless using Windows 7.

To connect to LetNet wireless your computer must have a wireless adapter that supports connections via Protected EAP (PEAP) security.

Some computers may have a built-in third-party wireless utility that controls your computer's wireless connections.  We do not support how to connect through this software.  Please disable any third-party wireless management utilities and follow these instructions to use Windows 7.

Security Settings:

SSID: letnet (must be all lowercase)
Network Authentication: WPA2 (Enterprise)
Data Encryption: AES
Authentication Type: PEAP
802.1X: Enabled

Click on the wireless Icon in your system tray (usually bottom-right of your screen).

You should now see letnet in your wireless Network Connections.  If you cannot see letnet, your wireless might not be controlled by Windows or your wireless adapter might not be turned on. Correct this before you continue.

Right click on letnet and choose Properties.

This window should pop up.  Make sure that the Security type, Encryption type and network authentication method are all set correctly (see image).  Now click settings.

Another window should pop up.  Make sure Validate server certificate is checked and the Authentication Method is correct (see image).  Now click Configure.

If your computer is not owned by LeTourneau University, make sure the check box circled in red is unchecked.  If it is owned by LeTourneau and you need to logon to the domain, make sure the check box is checked.  Click OK and click OK again

.

Select the Connection tab at the top of the window.  Make sure the check-box circled in red is selected.  Now click OK.

Once the window has closed.  You should see a small balloon near your system tray asking for more information.  Click inside the balloon.

Enter in your LetNet username and password and click OK.

Your wireless might take several moments to connect.

If your wireless does not connect, turn off your wireless and turn it back on.  If that does not work, restart your computer.  If troubles continue to occur, please call 903-233-3500 to reach the IT Help Desk so we can fix the issue for you.
