Network port information for Internet access in residence halls

  • LetNet data ports in residence halls are blue. Either the entire port is blue or the port has a blue rectangular identifier above it.
  • Data ports should be labeled with the room number followed by a letter--usually A, B, C, or D.
  • If you need to connect multiple devices to the network, you are permitted to connect an Ethernet switch. We recommend that you purchase a Gigabit Ethernet switch.
  • Activated jack locations are fixed, and the location cannot be changed within a room.

Active ports for each residence hall:

 

Apartments

Apartments 1-9

Active: 2 per apartment. 1 active network port in each bedroom.

Location: Common wall between bedrooms.

 

Apartments 10-17

Active: 4 per apartment. 2 active network ports in each bedroom.

Location: Common wall between bedrooms.

 

Davis Hall

Active: 1 active network port in each bedroom. Inactive ports should be blocked with a non-removable red or white plug.

Location: Various walls depending on the room.

 

Gilbert Hall

Active: 1 active network port in each bedroom. Inactive ports should be blocked with a non-removable red or white plug.

Location: One port on each side of the room.

 

Society Houses

AO/KZX

Active: 2 active ports in each bedroom.

Location: Various walls depending on the room. Both ports are in the same wall plate.

 

South Hall

Active: 1 active network port in each bedroom. Inactive ports should be blocked with a non-removable red or white plug.

Location: Various walls depending on the room.

 

Thomas Hall

Active: 1 active network port in each bedroom. Inactive ports should be blocked with a non-removable red or white plug.

Location: Various walls depending on the room.

 

Trinities (Evelyn LeTourneau Hall, Pennsylvannia Hall, and Mabee Hall)

ELH

Active: 1 active network port in each bedroom. Inactive ports should be blocked with a non-removable red or white plug.

Location: The same wall that has the white Access Point enclosure on it.

PH and MH

Active: 2 active network ports in each bedroom.

Location. Various walls depending on the room. Both ports are located in the same surface-mounted box on the wall.

 

Tyler Hall East/West

Active: 2 active network ports in each bedroom.

Location: Wall facing the hallway. Both ports are located in the same surface-mounted box on the wall.

 

The Quad

Active: each room has a dedicated wireless Access Point (AP) and  (4) dedicated wire ports that are accessible from the bottom of the  AP.

Location: Various walls depending on the room.  Inactive ports should be blocked with a non-removable red or white plug.
