We encourage instructors to include engaging and informative videos throughout their Canvas courses.
Below are some of the ways to facilitate this process:
Adding video content using the built-in Canvas Media Recorder and the Panopto Recordings plugin.
Instructions:
- Open the Rich Content Editor:
- Within an Announcement, Assignment, Discussion, Page, Quiz, etc., click on Edit to open the Rich Content Editor.

- Embed the Video:
- Click the Apps icon (it looks like a plug) in the Rich Content Editor toolbar.

- Select Panopto from the list of apps.

- Select the option you will use: Choose (from your Panopto files), Upload (from your computer) or Record a new video directly. Either launch the Panopto capture software within your browser or use the Panopto for Windows app (requires a previous download and install of the app.)

- Here is what the Panopto Capture software looks like within the browser:

- Click on the gear icon to adjust settings.

- Or use the Panopto for Windows app to record the video and upload it to your Panopto folder: Log in to https://letu.hosted.panopto.com/ (if you need detailed instructions on using Panopto, go here: https://servicedesk.letu.edu/TDClient/2460/Portal/KB/?CategoryID=20887)

-
- Save and Publish:
- Once the video is embedded, click Save & Publish or Save if you already published it.
