This article describes how to directly access and modify settings of a shared mailbox using Outlook on the web.
Background
A shared mailbox operates much like your own LETU mailbox, except that multiple people are able to access it at the same time. At some point, you may need to modify how the shared mailbox behaves. Some common reasons for this are:
- Setting an automatic or out-of-office reply.
- Creating rules to filter incoming email into different folders.
- Change how log email is kept in the mailbox
Since the local Outlook running on your LETU desktop is setup with your own LETU email address, it is not a simple procedure to manage these settings on a shared mailbox from within Outlook itself. For this reason, this article describes how to manage these settings using Outlook on the web.
How To
Accessing a shared mailbox with Outlook on the web.
- Browse to https://outlook.office.com/
- Login using your LETU account.
- Click your profile pic in the upper-right corner and select Open another mailbox.
- In the Open another mailbox prompt, type the name of the shared mailbox (eg. sharedmailbox@letu.edu)
- Click Open
Accessing shared mailbox settings
- Click the gear icon at the top of your browser window.
- Select View all Outlook settings
- You should see the standard settings for an Outlook mailbox.
- Modify the desired settings as needed.
